A lot going on today and I am struggling to remember it all. Started the day off trying to get online to register for the match, but with no success. Then, to the small theatre for an ankle block and foreign body search of a foot, with help from Dr. Brown and Cavanagh. Another LP for meningitis eval. Also tapped a traumatic knee which yielded a ton of fluid. Then, a biopsy of the woman with possible Donovanosis. Spent some time in the lab with staining and think I may have found ‘Donovan bodies’ on a Wright’s stained slide! Now, that was exciting.
I decided to recheck the young child with swollen glands and lymphadenopathy for HIV and postponed a biopsy of her lymph nodes. If it is lymphoma by biopsy I am not sure it would change anything since there is no treatment available here. So why traumatize her if it’s not going to change what we would do for her?
